Surekha Row: Govt Directs Endowment Dept to Handover Medaram Works to R&B
Telangana government instructed the Endowments department to handover all the documents relating to the work to the R & B department immediately

Hyderabad: In a major setback to minister Konda Surekha who holds endowments department portfolio, the dtate government has asked the roads and buildings (R&B) department to take over and execute the works related to Sri Sammakka Saralamma Jatara in Medaram from the current stage. It also instructed the endowments department to hand over all the documents relating to the work to the R&B department immediately. A memo to this effect was issued by the Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao.
In the memo, Rao said the biennial Sri Sammakka Saralamma Jatara to be held in 2026, witnesses one of the large scale gatherings of pilgrims from all over India.
The government has sanctioned various works relating to the temple and to strengthen the other infrastructure of the area for smooth conduct of jathara. The state government has sanctioned Rs 101 crore, towards the work of reconstruction of Gaddelu and Prakaram wall at Sri Sammakka Saralamma temple.
A technical committee was constituted under the chairmanship of the engineer-in-chief, R&B department for various technical matters related to the above said works. Accordingly, tenders have been invited on September 28 on e-procurement platform, fixing October 7, 2025 as the last date.
Considering the nature of works and the need for appropriate technical supervision to ensure quality of the works and time bound completion of the same, the State government has decided to entrust the further execution of all the works related to the development of the temple and strengthening other infrastructure related to the conduct of jathara to R&B department.
Rao asked the R&B department to take over and execute the works from the current stage and instructed the endowments department to handover all the documents relating to the above works to the R&B department immediately.
