Students Pledge Safer Roads At Abids Drive
"using mobile phones or earphones while walking can be fatal and must be avoided”: Officials

HYDERABAD: With an aim to curb rising road accidents and instil traffic discipline among youngsters, Abids traffic police organised the ‘Arrive – Alive’ awareness programme at St. George’s Girls Grammar School on Wednesday.
SHO Madhusudhan, along with SIs Panduraju and Hanmantha Rao, urged students to follow basic safety practices: Look ‘right–left–right’ before crossing, use zebra crossings or foot over bridges, and walk facing oncoming traffic where footpaths are absent.
Officials cautioned that “using mobile phones or earphones while walking can be fatal and must be avoided,” and stressed never to board or alight from a moving bus. Students were told to wait until the bus departs before attempting to cross.
Principal Ruth Lajwanti, teachers Arundati and Mrudhula, and 300 students joined the session, collectively taking the ‘Arrive – Alive’ pledge to act as responsible citizens by adhering to traffic rules.
