Students Found JEE Main Paper Moderate, Struggle With Maths

Several students said the final segment of the exam felt rushed

Hyderabad: Students who appeared for JEE Main centres in Hyderabad have described the paper as moderate in difficulty, with time management emerging as the primary challenge.
Most candidates identified mathematics as the most demanding section, citing lengthy questions requiring multiple steps. “Maths took too much time. I left four questions even though I knew the answer,” said Manika Mettu, a student from a centre in Uppal.
The paper comprised 90 questions — 30 each in physics, chemistry and mathematics — of which 75 were to be attempted. Each section included both MCQs and numerical questions. “Physics was okay, mostly formula-based. I could finish that faster, but the long calculus questions took more time,” said another student, Karunya.
Several students said the final segment of the exam felt rushed. “The last 15–20 minutes were tense. I was just trying to attempt whatever I could,” said a student from a Secunderabad centre who appeared in the afternoon shift.
Chemistry was widely viewed as more scoring. “It was mostly from NCERT, but a few questions were confusing. Solving model papers and mock exams helped a great deal,” Praneeth B said. He added, “Starting with chemistry helped me save time.”
Candidates also reported physical strain due to heat conditions. “It was very hot inside and outside. I felt really drained by the end,” Praneeth said.
Parents waiting outside centres said they were concerned about hydration. “I worry about the heat and hydration. I’m glad my daughter carried a water bottle, but I think electrolytes would have helped better,” said a father at a centre in Uppal.
Overall, students said the paper was manageable, but indicated that speed and time allocation, particularly in mathematics, were decisive.
