Student’s Death Triggers Protest at Pochampad Social Welfare School

Relatives allege food poisoning, dengue; police intervene to defuse tension

Nizamabad: Tension prevailed near the social welfare residential school at Pochampad in Mendora mandal following the death of a student due to illness, prompting her parents and relatives to stage a protest.

The deceased student, Sai Likhitha, a native of Tamsi village in Adilabad district, was studying in Class 8 at the school. She had recently fallen ill and was first shifted to a private hospital in Nirmal before being referred to Hyderabad for advanced treatment. However, her condition deteriorated, and she died while undergoing treatment.

After her death, the student’s relatives reached the school on Wednesday and staged a protest with the body, alleging that she had died due to food poisoning and dengue. Mendora SI J. Suhasini and police personnel rushed to the spot and pacified the relatives.

Following the incident, a tense situation prevailed at the social welfare residential school in Pochampad.
