Students Booked for Dancing with Swords at Birthday Party in Asifnagar

The video of the students, some of them minors, cutting cakes with swords and dancing in the colony went viral on various social media platforms. This prompted the police to take suo motu cognisance of the incident and register a case under relevant provisions of BNS.

Hyderabad: The Asifnagar police booked a case against a group of students for dancing with swords and making loud noise during a birthday celebrations at Syedaliguda two days ago.

The video of the students, some of them minors, cutting cakes with swords and dancing in the colony went viral on various social media platforms. This prompted the police to take suo motu cognisance of the incident and register a case under relevant provisions of BNS.

Though the incident occurred on Monday night, it came to light on Wednesday after the video went viral on social media. About 10 youths, mostly minors, were celebrating the birthday of a student.

Confirming about the incident, Asifnagar inspector N. Anand said an FIR has been registered and further investigation is on. “As most of the students were minors, the police are seeking legal opinion before initiating action against them as per rules,” another police official said.

The police also summoned parents of the students who attended the party and counselled them.
