STs See Most Dropouts After Inter
He also mentioned that the Telangana gross enrollment ratio is at 40 per cent to 42.7 per cent compared to the national average of 27.3 per cent to 29.5 per cent.

Hyderabad: In a troubling trend, 56.4 per cent of individuals below 18 years have not studied beyond Class 12 in Telangana, according to the Telangana government’ s Socio-Economic, Educational, Employment, Political and Caste (SEEPC) survey.
The survey noted that a high proportion of people who have not studied beyond Class 12 indicated limited access to higher education and restricted entry into skilled or professional sectors. It also reflected systemic educational disadvantages, lack of institutional support and social exclusion, forcing many to depend on low-paying, low-skilled jobs.
The proportion is higher among 62.7 per cent of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and 56.7 per cent of Scheduled Tribes (STs) under age 18, who completed only up to intermediate education, compared to higher than OCs at 45.9 per cent and BCs at 57.7 per cent. This, as per the report, indicates most disadvantaged groups remain trapped at pre-graduation levels, limiting their access to white-collar or skilled jobs.
Prof. Sriram Venkatesh, secretary, Telangana Council of Higher Education, said the state has better higher education facilities, including women's colleges and plenty of seats. However, due to socio-economic background, the family’s financial constraints, and a lack of awareness about the reasons, students are not transitioning to higher education after Class 12.
