Stray Dogs Maul Child in Hyderabad
Residents voiced anger over repeated complaints to civic authorities. “We have several times given complaints on the growing stray dogs menace in Teachers Colony. No effective measures have been taken despite several incidents involving aggressive dogs,” said Adi Lakshmi, a local resident.

Hyderabad: An eight‑year‑old Class IV student was critically injured after a pack of 10 stray dogs attacked him while he was playing near his house in Teachers Colony, Meerpet, on Monday evening. The victim, Aadvik Suman, was rushed to Kamineni Hospital where he has been placed on a ventilator.
Aadvik was playing cricket with other children in the colony when he went to pick up the ball. “Over 10 of them pounced on my son, taking him to the ground; they bit him multiple times,” said his father Suman, a businessman.
Despite his injuries, Aadvik managed to escape, screaming and trying to hide against a pillar in an apartment basement. “The dogs chased him, dragged him to the ground and attacked him for the second time. After locals informed us, we rushed him to Kamineni Hospital. His condition is critical, the doctors here informed,” Suman said.
He added that the family had come to Hyderabad from their native Siddipet district just seven days ago. “We were busy talking to our relatives. We were not aware of the stray dog menace, otherwise we would not have allowed Aadvik out,” he said.

Following the attack, locals staged a protest demanding immediate intervention from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). They urged authorities to conduct sterilisation drives, remove aggressive strays from residential areas, and ensure regular monitoring to prevent similar incidents.
Till late Monday evening, officials had not issued a detailed statement. “We have not received any complaint in this connection. Aadvik’s condition is critical. If any complaint comes from his family members, we will take action as per the law,” said G. Srinivas Reddy, SI of Meerpet police station.
