Nalgonda: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Thursday directed officials to take comprehensive measures to prevent traffic congestion on National Highway 65 during the Sankranti festival, keeping in view last year’s experience.

Traffic congestion was reported at several locations, including Chityal, during the festival last year. He said around 9.97 lakh four-wheelers and about 7,000 buses travelled on NH 65 during the previous Sankranti season, and the volume was expected to be even higher this year.
The minister said a large police force would be deployed at identified points along NH 65 to ensure smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow during the festival period.
He also said that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared for the proposed greenfield highway connecting Hyderabad in Telangana with Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
