Stepdad Gets 7 Years in POCSO Case
POCSO court convicts tractor driver; orders Rs 2 lakh compensation

Nalgonda: A 33-year-old tractor driver (name withheld as victim is a minor) was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment by a POCSO Court in Nalgonda for trying to sexually assault his 14-year-old stepdaughter, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred on April 21, 2018, at Kodandapakagudem in Narketpally mandal. The man allegedly took the minor on his motorcycle to the outskirts of the village and tried to molest her. The girl escaped and informed her mother, following which a complaint was lodged.
Police registered a case against the man under relevant sections, and a chargesheet was filed on February 28, 2019. The tractor driver, a native of Nehrunagar in Macherla of Palnadu district in Andhra Pradesh, had married the victim’s mother in 2011 after her first husband died in a road accident. The family was living in Kodandapakagudem, where the couple worked at a poultry farm.
Public Prosecutor Vemula Ranjith Kumar said the court found the accused guilty based on evidence and the victim’s statement. The court also directed authorities to pay Rs 2 lakh compensation to the victim.
