State Govt Releases ₹277 Cr to Gram Panchayats
Bhatti directed finance officials to consistently pursue with the Centre the release of the 15th Finance Commission's pending grants to Telangana gram panchayats, which are estimated at nearly ₹3,000 crore.

Hyderabad:The state government on Tuesday released ₹277 crore to gram panchayats ahead of Sankranti to support village-level development activities. The decision was taken at a meeting with finance officials convened by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka who directed immediate disbursal of the amount.
The meeting was attended by principal secretary, finance, Sandeep Kumar Sultania and senior officials, who reviewed the financial position of rural local bodies and discussed measures to ensure uninterrupted flow of funds to gram panchayats.
Bhatti directed finance officials to consistently pursue with the Centre the release of the 15th Finance Commission's pending grants to Telangana gram panchayats, which are estimated at nearly ₹3,000 crore.
The Centre had stopped the Finance Commission grants from 2024-25 due to the absence of elected bodies, as the tenure of the earlier panchayats ended in January 2024. Gram panchayats did not receive Central funds during 2024–25 and 2025–26.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had recently announced special development funds for all 12,706 gram panchayats as a New Year gift, promising ₹5 lakh for smaller villages and ₹10 lakh for larger ones. These funds, to be provided from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund, are separate from regular Central and state allocations.
