Start Akeru Bridge Works Immediately, Says Satyavathi

Rathod said the absence of a permanent bridge was causing severe hardship to people using the route and demanded that the government take up the reconstruction works immediately. She warned that she would organise a mass protest to pressure the government if there was no action.

Mahabubabad: BRS state general secretary and former minister Satyavathi Rathod on Wednesday demanded immediate commencement of reconstruction works on the Akeru stream bridge at Mulakalapalli, which was washed away in the 2024 floods. She warned that a massive protest would be organised with the public if the government failed to take up the works.

Rathod inspected the collapsed bridge and said the structure, which connects Mahabubabad and Khammam districts, was crucial for commuters, farmers and students. She criticised the government for failing to begin permanent reconstruction works despite the passage of time. She questioned why Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s assurances during his visit to Mahabubabad district after the floods had not been implemented.
