StandWithHer Panel Discusses Toxic Masculinity, Healthier Expressions of Manhood
The discussion focused on how societal expectations of masculinity often normalise anger, control and dominance, and how these attitudes can affect personal relationships, workplaces and public spaces

Hyderabad: The StandWithHer campaign hosted the eighth edition of its panel discussion series at WeHub, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University here bringing together distinguished voices from media, public administration, the arts and entrepreneurship.
It discussed the impact of anger, ego and toxic masculinity on individuals, relationships and society, and the need to encourage healthier expressions of masculinity rooted in respect, empathy and accountability.
The discussion focused on how societal expectations of masculinity often normalise anger, control and dominance, and how these attitudes can affect personal relationships, workplaces and public spaces.
The panel explored the need to challenge deeply ingrained stereotypes, encourage emotional awareness and create environments where men can express themselves without fear of judgement.
The conversation also highlighted the role of women and men in unlearning harmful behaviours and building more respectful and equal relationships.
The panel featured Charu Sinha, DG (CID, ACB and WSW). Speaking during the discussion, Charu Sinha emphasised that behaviours associated with toxic masculinity are learned and, therefore, can also be unlearned.
She further highlighted that men and women are complementary to each other, stating, “We must also see that men and women are complementary to each other. No one is superior or inferior to each other.”
She underscored the importance of mutual respect and equality in fostering healthier relationships and a more inclusive society.
#StandWithHer is an ongoing year-long initiative designed to promote dialogue on gender equality by creating spaces where men and women can engage in honest and constructive conversations. Through a different theme each month, the campaign seeks to inspire understanding, raise awareness and encourage positive social change.
