Police said the vehicle was seized and the cash deposited with the authorities. Under the election code of conduct, individuals carrying more than Rs 50,000 in cash must produce supporting documents, failing which the amount is liable for seizure.

Warangal: Police and Static Surveillance Teams (SST) seized Rs 20 lakh in unaccounted cash and 2.5 kg of silver ornaments in two separate incidents at Ragudu check-post on the outskirts of Sircilla town amid heightened vigilance following the enforcement of the municipal election code.
In the first incident, SST officials intercepted a car during routine vehicle checks and recovered Rs 20 lakh in cash. The occupant, Ganachari Sambasiva Rao of Vemulawada, failed to produce valid documents or provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the source and purpose of the money.
Police said the vehicle was seized and the cash deposited with the authorities. Under the election code of conduct, individuals carrying more than Rs 50,000 in cash must produce supporting documents, failing which the amount is liable for seizure.
In another incident at the same check-post, officials recovered 2.5 kg of silver from a separate vehicle. The person transporting the silver was identified as Togiti Satyanarayana of Metpally in Jagtial district. As no proof of purchase or transport permits were produced, the silver was seized and handed over to the police.
Police officials said check-posts had been set up at all key entry and exit points of Rajanna Sircilla district to prevent the illegal movement of cash, liquor and precious metals intended to influence voters.
They advised the public to carry proper documentation for high-value cash or material movement during the election period to avoid legal action.
