The concert was very well and beautifully accompanied by the co-artists onstage.

Hyderabad:Kalasagaram’s Savithri Mahalingam memorial concert featured a soulful vocal rendition by J.S. Sriram, who was accompanied by V.S.P. Gayathri Sivani on the violin, Sri Sai Giridhar on the mridangam and B. Janardhan on the ghatam.
The concert began with ‘Sadachaleswaram’ in Raga Bhoopalam, a krithi from Muthuswami Dikshithar’s Thiruvarur Panchalinga. It was crowned with a Kalpana swaram in ‘Kamala Vijaya Kara’ and followed by Patnam Subramanya Iyer’s krithi, ‘Ramaikanannu’ set to Rupaka Taalam, with an elaborate Sahana alapana and niraval.
Next came Saint Thyagaraja’s ‘Sundaratara Deham’ in Ragam Pantuvarali, showcasing Sriram’s command over rhythm, especially in the swarakalpana, which drew appreciation from both the audience and the accompanying percussionists.
Gayathri Sivani’s violin stood out for its precision. A meditative Sama alapana led into ‘Shanthamu Leka’, composed by Saint Thyagaraja, followed by ‘Arul Seiya Vendum Ayya’ in Ragam Rasikapriya, which was composed by Koteeswara Iyer.
The main rendition of the evening featured a rich Shankarabharanam alapana, followed by the slokam ‘Ksheerabdi Madhya’, leading into ‘Narayanaya Namo’, a Tharangam by Narayana Teertha, set to Misra Chapu taalam.
The presentation of niraval and kalpana swaram set the tone for a well-structured thani avarthanam where Sai Giridhar delivered a masterful mridangam solo, with B. Janardhan offering support on the ghatam. The piece before the final rendition was an Ashtapathi of Sri Jayadeva, ‘Manjutara’ in raga Kosalam, set to Khanda Chapu Taalam.
The concert concluded with ‘Adenammaharudu’ in Ragam Paras composed by Pallavi Doraiswamy Iyer set to Adi Taalam. The concert was very well and beautifully accompanied by the co-artists onstage.
