Sridhar Babu Warns Against Misuse of Fine Rice Sop

Participating in developmental programmes alongside district collector Rahul Sharma in Kataram mandal, Sridhar Babu shared a meal made with fine rice at the residence of a local tribal beneficiary, Vankudoth Sammakka

Warangal: IT and industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Sunday urged the public to use the state’s Fine Rice Scheme responsibly, warning that any misuse or irregularities would invite strict action. He emphasised that the scheme, launched to provide high-quality, nutritious rice to ration card holders, should be seen as a welfare initiative, not an opportunity for exploitation.

Participating in developmental programmes alongside district collector Rahul Sharma in Kataram mandal, the minister shared a meal made with fine rice at the residence of a local tribal beneficiary, Vankudoth Sammakka, as part of an outreach effort to promote the newly launched rice distribution initiative.

Sridhar Babu said the scheme was introduced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and civil supplies minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Ugadi to ensure food security for below poverty line (BPL) families. He interacted with the beneficiary family about the rice quality, comparing it with regular coarse grains.

Highlighting the government’s push to support fine-grain paddy cultivation, the minister said a bonus of ₹500 per bag is being offered to farmers.

In a move to improve educational infrastructure, the minister handed over 100 desks and benches to eight government schools in the mandal. He said villagers had long complained about poor school facilities, and the government was now committed to addressing these gaps and ensuring a student-friendly learning environment.

He also urged parents to prioritise their children’s education and assured that the state was working towards creating better conditions in government schools.

Speaking about employment initiatives, Sridhar Babu highlighted the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme, informing local youth about subsidies ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹4 lakh to set up self-employment ventures. He assured a transparent selection process and encouraged applications, while noting that beneficiaries would need to contribute a share of the cost.

The minister also announced that arrangements worth ₹35 crore are being made for Saraswati Pushkaralu in Kaleshwaram from May 15 to 26, including improved facilities for visiting pilgrims.
