Sridhar Babu Orders Vigilance Probe into Collapse of Check Dams

Sridhar Babu stressed that the government is treating the back-to-back collapses with utmost seriousness.

Karimnagar: IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu expressed strong anger over the recent collapse of check dams in the region, particularly the structure at Adavi Somanpalli in Peddapalli district. Inspecting the structure, he clarified that the dams were constructed during the previous BRS regime and ordered a high-level Vigilance inquiry to determine whether the failures were due to poor quality or intentional sabotage.

Sridhar Babu stressed that the government is treating the back-to-back collapses with utmost seriousness. “If the inquiry reveals poor construction quality or deliberate destruction, those responsible will face criminal charges,” he warned. He criticized BRS leaders for making baseless allegations and questioned how they would respond once the inquiry report exposes failures from their tenure.

“The government will not tolerate the destruction of assets meant for farmers’ welfare,” he stated.

Earlier in the day, Sridhar Babu reviewed the construction of a new 50-bed Government Hospital in Manthani, a project he personally spearheaded as local MLA. He secured Rs.22 crore in state funding for the facility, which is being built by TSMIDC as a G+1 structure.

Officials have been instructed to ensure completion by October 2026. The hospital will feature a 10-bed emergency block, OPD block, 54 special NCS beds, dedicated dialysis and radiology centers, a 12-bed palliative care block, an administrative wing, and a modern operation theatre complex.

The Minister directed contractors to maintain the highest quality standards, ensuring the hospital serves the constituency for decades to come.
