Sridhar Babu Hits Out at KTR Over Land Allocations
Responding to KTR’s allegations over land allocations, Sridhar Babu said the Congress government had allotted land strictly in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations
Hyderabad: Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Wednesday hit out at BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR), accusing him of misleading people with false statements on land allocations and other issues concerning Telangana.
Speaking to the media after a face-to-face meeting at Gandhi Bhavan, Sridhar Babu challenged KTR to explain to Telangana’s farmers the price received for the paddy grown at former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse.
Responding to KTR’s allegations over land allocations, Sridhar Babu said the Congress government had allotted land strictly in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations. He said land was allotted at Rs.1.50 crore per acre, whereas the previous BRS government had allotted land at ₹90 lakh per acre.
“We allotted five acres for Rs7.5 crore,” he said, asking KTR to explain the basis for the Rs.200 crore figure being quoted by him. The Minister said the HILT policy would benefit the people of Hyderabad and cautioned KTR against creating fear among industrialists.
He said obstructing Telangana’s development was not in the interest of the State and urged KTR not to vent his political anger on the people.
Sridhar Babu also criticised the BRS for what he described as “Goebbels-style propaganda,” saying people had rejected such propaganda in the Lok Sabha and local body elections.
On development, the Minister said the Congress government was continuing policies followed by previous governments. However, he alleged that the previous BRS government had caused serious damage to Telangana’s interests in the allocation of water.
“We will not compromise anywhere when it comes to Telangana’s rightful share of water,” Sridhar Babu said, adding that the State government would attend the upcoming Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) meeting and strongly argue for Telangana’s interests and rightful share of water.
