Hyderabad: In a hit-and-run case, a 30-year-old unknown motorcyclist died after a speeding SUV rammed into him near Khajaguda, which is half kilometer from Outer Ring Road (ORR) under Raidurgam police station limits.
A law student Quadri Shah (22), a resident of Shaikpet, also suffered injuries in the incident. Shah first hit the motorcylist with his car. On seeing him injured, he parked the car on the roadside and came to his rescue.
With the help of other motorists, Shah was crossing the road to admit the injured person to a private hospital on the other side of the road when two SUVs passed through and hit them. As a result, the unknown person, who was already injured, died on the spot while Shah escaped with injuries.
Shah is now undergoing treatment in a corporate hospital in Gachibowli where his condition is said to be critical. The police preserved the body of an unknown person at the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) mortuary for identification and autopsy.
The police said that it is not clear which SUV hit them while crossing the road. “We are examining the footage of surveillance cameras at the spot to identify the SUV,” the police said adding that the injured was clad in black ‘T’ shirt and blue boxer shorts.
Even as the investigation is on, rumours have surfaced that the son of a popular art director associated with Telugu film industry was allegedly involved in the accident. However, there is no official confirmation of the claim so far.
