Special Vigil On Water Quality At Kazipet, Warangal Railway Stations

South Central Railway is closely monitoring drinking water quality at Kazipet and Warangal stations, with 225 samples tested and none found contaminated.

South Central Railway (SCR) is maintaining special vigil on drinking water quality at Kazipet and Warangal railway stations and railway colonies. The stations’ medical and engineering departments are jointly monitoring whether the available water is safe.

Between September 9 and September 15, officials collected and tested 225 water samples from Kazipet railway station, the railway colony and Warangal railway station. Among others, the samples had been tested for residual chlorine and E. coli bacteria.

SCR principal chief medical director Dr. Nirmala Rajaram on Wednesday directed officials to maintain drinking water quality standards and ensure regular chlorination and testing. She personally inspected the water quality monitoring arrangements at Kazipet railway station and found the residual chlorine level satisfactory.

According to officials, none of the 225 samples tested positive for contamination or E. coli.

Dr Rajaram directed officials to clean water storage tanks and ground-level reservoirs at stations and colonies, while conducting regular bacteriological tests.

Railway officials are monitoring groundwater, municipal water supply, storage, chlorination, and distribution systems. Residual chlorine levels are being checked daily, while water samples are tested regularly.

SCR general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava has asked officials to ensure continuous monitoring of drinking water quality at the railway stations in the region and ensure compliance with standards prescribed in the Indian Railways Medical Manual.
