Special Drive To Complete 16.06 Saplings Planting From Today
A special Vanamahotsavam drive will begin across Telangana on Tuesday to complete the target of planting 16.06 crore saplings by September-end. As of August 23, 9.06 crore saplings had been planted.
A special Vanamahotsavam drive is to be held across the state starting Tuesday in an attempt to complete the target of planting 16.06 crore saplings this year before the end of September. According to the forest department, as on August 23, 9.06 crore saplings were planted this year in the state. The government instructed all district forest officers to work in coordination with their respective district collectors to not only complete the planting targets but also to take all steps needed to ensure that the saplings survive. The renewed drive will begin with a special vanamahotsavam on Tuesday and the work ahead was discussed during a video conference with forest officials that was chaired by forests and environment minister Konda Surekha.
