Special Drive for Recovery of Electricity Dues - Musharraf Farooqui
TGSPDL launched a drive to recover dues from most delinquent bill-stopped HT services

Hyderabad: The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDL) is making intensive efforts to recover outstanding dues.
As part of the initiative, the company has set up notice boards in front of premises with bill-stopped High Tension (HT) services, displaying the total amount of dues owed. TGSPDL Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Farooqui stated that these measures have been effective in recovering dues.
Currently, there are 728 bill-stopped HT connections within the company's jurisdiction, which are not in use. These connections have outstanding dues amounting to Rs.600 crore. Despite multiple attempts to contact the parties concerned, no progress was made, leading to these actions.
Similarly, there are 9.19 lakh bill-stopped Low Tension (LT) services with approximately Rs.188 crore in dues. The company has launched a special drive to recover dues from the most delinquent bill-stopped HT services, and so far, around Rs.100 crore has been collected.
“Some individuals are purchasing properties linked to these services without being aware of the outstanding electricity dues. However, as per existing laws, electricity connections will not be provided until these dues are cleared, even if the ownership changes,” he said.
Therefore, people should consider this factor when purchasing such properties. The details of the outstanding dues and the linked properties have already been shared with the Registration department. Additionally, information about the dues has been provided to district Collectors.
Musharraf Farooqui stated that the company was making all necessary arrangements to utilize every legal avenue available for the recovery of these dues.
