SP Tells Mobile Shops To Verify Second-Hand Sellers
The SP said appreciation certificates would be presented to shop owners who assist the police in tracing stolen mobile phones or provide information leading to the arrest of mobile thieves and burglars.

KARIMNAGAR: Superintendent of Police Mahesh B. Gite on Saturday directed mobile phone shop owners to collect Aadhaar details and verify the identity of customers before purchasing second-hand mobile phones.
Addressing owners of mobile phone sales and repair shops at a meeting held at the District Police Office in Sircilla, the SP urged them to remain vigilant while dealing with customers seeking to sell or exchange used mobile phones.
He said shop owners should collect Aadhaar details and other identification documents instead of accepting phones without verification. If anyone was found behaving suspiciously or attempting to sell a stolen mobile phone, they should immediately inform the police.
The SP said appreciation certificates would be presented to shop owners who assist the police in tracing stolen mobile phones or provide information leading to the arrest of mobile thieves and burglars.
He advised customers to obtain bills or receipts while purchasing second-hand mobile phones, noting that many innocent buyers unknowingly purchase stolen devices at low prices and later face legal complications.
Warning that legal action would be taken against those who knowingly purchase stolen mobile phones, Gite advised people to exchange their devices only through authorised company outlets or legitimate dealers. He also cautioned against buying used mobile phones from unknown persons or unauthorised shops, as such devices could be linked to cybercrimes.
The SP said the district police had secured first place in south India in recovering lost mobile phones and had topped the state for the third consecutive time. He attributed the achievement to public cooperation and urged people to report lost mobile phones through the CEIR portal.
