Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) raided an unauthorised late-night liquor party at ‘The Pendent’ farmhouse in Himayathnagar, Moinabad, on Thursday night.
During the surprise inspection by the Rajendranagar SOT team, Andhra Pradesh MLC Duvvada Srinivas and his partner Divvala Madhuri were reportedly detained for allegedly organising the event without the required permissions. They were later allowed to leave.
Preliminary information suggests that the couple had arranged a birthday celebration for Madhuri, during which liquor was served and hookah was used in violation of excise rules and public safety regulations.
Officials seized at least 10 bottles of foreign liquor along with hookah equipment from the farmhouse. Around 30 people, including some political associates, were said to be present at the gathering.
Moinabad Police have registered a case against Subhash, the farmhouse owner, and event organiser Parthasarathy for hosting a party without permission and for possession of prohibited items. The investigation is ongoing.
