Sop for landless labourers for first time in India: Uttam

Yadadri-Bhongir: Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy asserted on Sunday that the state government's welfare schemes will improve the lives of its citizens and bring them happiness. The minister distributed sanction letters for four new welfare schemes to beneficiaries at Nathalagudem in Valigonda mandal.

Speaking at the event, Uttam Kumar Reddy said, “These schemes are intended to enhance the living conditions of the underprivileged. Only by achieving this can we fulfil the true purpose of these initiatives.” The four schemes — Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Houses, new Ration Cards, and Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa — aim to cover all eligible families across the state. He assured that the selection and implementation of beneficiaries would adhere strictly to the established guidelines.

The minister announced the launch of the Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa scheme, which provides Rs 12,000 in annual financial assistance to landless agricultural labourers. “This is the first time such a scheme has been introduced in the country,” he noted. The assistance will be disbursed to beneficiaries in two phases, he added.

He also addressed the efforts to issue new ration cards to all eligible families. “We are facilitating the addition of new family members to ensure comprehensive coverage,” he explained. The Indiramma Houses scheme was also spotlighted, with the minister reaffirming the government's dedication to making homeownership a reality for the poor.

Discussing agricultural welfare, the minister mentioned that the state's initiatives have positioned Telangana as a leader in paddy production nationwide. He reminded farmers that a Rs 500 bonus per quintal of paddy is being provided by the state government to support their efforts.

Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy called for enhanced coordination among different departmental officials to ensure the smooth implementation of the schemes. “Those who have not yet been listed as beneficiaries need not lose hope. The government is dedicated to extending these benefits to all eligible families,” he assured.

Bhongir MLA Kumbham Anil Kumar added that the introduction of these new schemes will revolutionise the state's welfare sector. He confirmed that the selection of beneficiaries was conducted transparently through gram sabhas. Additionally, he announced that fine rice will soon be distributed to ration card holders, further supporting the community’s needs.
