Soldier Warmth Gel, Solar Tablets: School Innovators Win Big At T-Hub Ideathon
The ideas were presented at Meru Pravinya 2026, an annual entrepreneurship programme organised by Meru International School for students of Grades 5 to 12 from its Miyapur and Tellapur campuses.
HYDERABAD: An ointment designed to protect soldiers from hypothermia, a solar-powered tablet for children in war zones and biodegradable menstrual pads were among the student innovations recognised at an entrepreneurship ideathon at T-Hub, on Friday where several students contributed ideas, with projects that focus on survival, rescue, healthcare and education during conflicts.
A Grade 7 team, Therma Gel, developed an ointment intended to prevent hypothermia among soldiers exposed to extreme cold. Another team from the same grade, Guardian Nexus, designed a portable emergency rescue device equipped with SOS alerts, GPS tracking, an LED signal and solar charging.
Students also explored problems faced by civilians during emergencies. Grade 10's Team Astar proposed a solar-powered learning tablet that would allow children in war zones and refugee camps to continue studying without internet access. Team Abhaya, also from Grade 10, developed biodegradable menstrual pads using bacterial cellulose and water hyacinth fibres to address period poverty.
Two Grade 9 teams, The Apex and Beacon, presented concepts for lightweight, durable footwear intended for survival in extreme conditions. Both received awards for their projects.
The ideas were presented at Meru Pravinya 2026, an annual entrepreneurship programme organised by Meru International School for students of Grades 5 to 12 from its Miyapur and Tellapur campuses. A total of 66 teams, comprising 247 students, participated in four days of semifinals evaluated by industry professionals.
School founder and director Meghana Gorukanti Jupally said, “Entrepreneurship is about understanding the people who need a solution, whether they can afford it and how effectively it serves them.”
