Solar Pump Sets Synchronised In Nagarkurnool Village
The pump sets installed in the fields of farmers were tested using two earthing methods — local earthing and distribution transformer (DTR) neutral earthing.
HYDERABAD: The southern discom has successfully synchronised two 7.5 kW prototype solar agricultural pump sets at Kondareddypalli in Vangoor mandal. The project is aimed at promoting renewable energy in agriculture and providing a reliable daytime power supply to farmers.
The pump sets installed in the fields of farmers were tested using two earthing methods — local earthing and distribution transformer (DTR) neutral earthing. The pump set belonging to Bojja Kalpana was synchronised using the DTR neutral earthing method, while the pump set of Bojja Sudhakar Reddy was tested using the local earthing method. Technical tests under both systems were completed successfully, officials said.
The project was inspected and synchronised under the supervision of Balaswamy, Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) chief engineer (operations), rural zone, Nagarkurnool superintending engineer Venkata Narasimha Reddy and divisional engineer M. Sudhakar.
Balaswamy said wider use of solar pump sets would benefit farmers, reduce the burden on the conventional power system and promote environmental sustainability. Venkata Narasimha Reddy said similar models could be introduced in other areas if the prototype project proved successful.
