Snooping case accused Praneeth files bail petition

Hyderabad:Dugyala Praneeth Kumar, alias Praneeth Rao, former deputy superintendent of police and second accused in the phone-tapping case, has filed a writ petition before the High Court, seeking a direction to set aside the orders of the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate, Hyderabad, rejecting his bail application and requesting bail.

Incidentally, barring the first accused, retired IPS officer T. Prabhakar Rao, all the other five accused have filed petitions in the High Court

seeking bail.

The criminal petition filed by Mekala Tirupatanna was dismissed by the High Court and the same is being challenged before the Supreme Court.

On Friday, the High Court reserved orders in the bail petition filed by former task force DCP Radhakishan Rao, accused number five

Praneeth Rao is seeking bail on the ground that the investigating team had filed the final report on June 10 without completing investigation and re-submitted the same on June 18, 25 and July 11 to impede the mandatory bail accrued to the petitioner.

The petitioner contended that he was remanded to judicial custody on March 13 and had completed 90 days in judicial custody as of June 11 and is eligible to be released as the chargesheet was not filed before the court within 90 days.

The High Court issued notices to the investigation team to submit its contention and adjourned the case.
