Six Sikh Couples Marry at Mass Wedding Ceremony in Hyderabad
Many parents said they never imagined their children would be married in such a traditional and dignified manner without financial burden.

Hyderabad: Six Sikh couples were married in a mass wedding ceremony organised at Gurudwara Baram Bala in Kishanbagh on Sunday. The Samuhik Vivah Samagam was organised under the guidance of the Prabhandak Committee of the gurudwara to support economically struggling families unable to afford expensive weddings. Most of the brides and bridegrooms belonged to Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Maharashtra and nearby regions.
Many parents said they never imagined their children would be married in such a traditional and dignified manner without financial burden. The marriages were conducted free of cost, with the organisers making arrangements for accommodation, food and wedding ceremonies. Religious heads from Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib attended the ceremony and blessed the couples.
Prabhandak Committee president Chetan Singh Shikari, secretary Rajbeer Singh, chairman Harbans Singh and adviser Iqbal Singh said the initiative aimed to reduce the financial burden on families, as many weddings today involve expenditure running into several lakhs of rupees. Various gurudwara committees and community organisations also gifted household items to the newly married couples to help them begin their new lives.
