Six Held For Illegal Sand Transport in Telangana
Ashwapuram police on Thursday arrested 6 persons, including 3 employees of the TSMDC, for illegally transporting sand

Nalgonda: Ashwapuram police on Thursday arrested six persons, including three employees of the Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation (TSMDC), for illegally transporting sand from the Ramanujavaram sand reach in Manuguru mandal, Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, using fake waybills.
Those arrested were identified as Karnati Shiva Shanker, 34, of Puttapaka, Nathi Ramulu, 42, of Janagam in Yadadri-Bhongir district, Iragadilla Upender, 35, of Mahbubnagar, Daggu Nikhil, 29, and Nagelli Madhu, 38, both TSMDC sand reach assistants, and Bolledu Anil, 41, a TSMDC security guard. Three others, E. Kiran, who prepared the fake waybills, Sathish Reddy, a TSMDC employee, and Sarve Srikanth, a truck driver, are absconding.
Manuguru deputy police superintendent V. Ravinder Reddy said police became suspicious while checking vehicles at Jaggaram Crossroads after truck driver Ramulu presented a dubious waybill. Upon questioning, Ramulu admitted that Shiva Shanker had provided the fake document and sent the truck to Kothagudem to transport sand. Further investigation revealed the involvement of the three TSMDC employees posted at the Ramanujavaram sand reach.
Police seized the sand-laden truck and registered a case under Crime No. 189/2025, Sections 318(4), 336(2), 340(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
