Six Get 20-Year Jail in Gangrape Bid
Five of the accused (A1 to A5) were sentenced to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment

Hyderabad: Two separate trial courts in Rangareddy district on Tuesday convicted seven persons in two different cases registered in 2016 — one involving gang rape and abduction, and the other for the murder and sexual assault of a minor boy — within Cyberabad police commissionerate limits.
In the first case, the XIII Additional District and Sessions judge at LB Nagar convicted six accused — Abdul Raheman, Mohd Abdul Kareem, Mohd Abdul Raheem, Syed Abdul Faheem, Mohd Imran and Bandari Yadaiah — in a case registered at RGIA police station. They were found guilty under Sections 342, 366, 376(D) read with 511, 323 and 506 of the IPC.
Five of the accused (A1 to A5) were sentenced to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹5,000 each under Section 376(D) read with 511 IPC. They were also awarded 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment under Section 366 IPC, two years’ simple imprisonment under Section 506 IPC, and one year’s simple imprisonment under Section 323 IPC. All six accused were sentenced to one year’s simple imprisonment under Section 342 IPC. The court further awarded the survivor ₹3 lakh as compensation.
The case dates back to October 2016, when the victim, who had gone to her friend’s house to celebrate Muharram, was misled. “The victim was sent by her friend who ensured that her family was there in the car. However, they were not present. She was abducted by the accused in the car and taken to a farmhouse at Indiranagar in Shamshabad, threatened with a knife and assaulted,” the release stated. She managed to escape and later lodged a complaint.
In a separate case, the Fast Track Special Court for trial and disposal of rape and POCSO Act cases at Rajendranagar convicted Vadla Santhosh, 33, of Moinabad. He was found guilty under Sections 302, 364(A), 377 and 201 of the IPC and Section 5 read with 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012.
The court sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹21,000. Additional sentences included 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment each under Section 377 IPC and the POCSO Act, and five years’ rigorous imprisonment under Section 201 IPC.
The case pertained to the murder of a nine-year-old boy in December 2016, whose body was later found hidden in a water tank on the terrace of an apartment building at Chilkur. The incident came to light after the boy’s mother lodged a missing complaint with Moinabad police, stating he had not returned after going out to play. Investigations revealed that the accused, a resident of the same locality, had abducted and sexually assaulted the minor before killing him and dumping the body in the tank.
