Adilabad: Six men from Adilabad district, who were imprisoned in Malaysia under arms-related charges, have returned home after nearly a year.
The individuals, hailing from Lingapur in Kadam Mandal and Munyal in Dasturabad Mandal, had travelled to the foreign country seeking employment but were subsequently arrested reportedly due to a lack of awareness about local laws.
Their release was facilitated by Bhukya Johnson Naik, a politician from Khanapur, who personally travelled to Malaysia, hired legal counsel, paid fines, and arranged for their return.
Up on their return, the men met with Naik and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao in Hyderabad on Tuesday to express their gratitude. They recounted their ordeal and said they had lost hope until help came from home.
They also criticised the lack of support from the Indian Embassy.
