Telangana: SIT Constituted to Probe 2 Cases On Fake News
The investigation would be conducted under the overall supervision of Hyderabad Police Commissioner Sajjanar

Hyderabad: Director-General of Police B Shivadhar Reddy has constituted an eight-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar to probe into crucial two separate cases registered at Hyderabad Central Crime Station (CCS) and at Maddur police station.
Of the two cases, one is related to the case registered against nine media organizations for telecasting fake news, violating privacy, and indecent representation of a woman IAS officer punishable under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)-2023, Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
The investigation would be conducted under the overall supervision of Sajjanar. The other team members include Joint Commissioner of Police, North Range, N Swetha, Chevella Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Yogesh Gautham, Hyderabad DCP, Admin, K Venkata Lakshmi, Hyderabad Cybercrimes DCP A Aravinda Babu, Vigilance and Enforcement Wing Additional Superintendent of Police B Pratap Kumar, Hyderabad CCS Assistant Commissioner of Police G Guru Raghavendra, Counter Intelligence (CI) Cell Inspector C Shankar Reddy and SHE Cyber Cell Sub-Inspector P Harish. Swetha will be the overall in-charge of the SIT.
In a memo, Reddy said the SIT would complete investigation of the two cases and file a charge-sheet expeditiously. The team should maintain highest level of professional competence throughout the investigation
Another case is related to editing and posting of the Chief Minister’s photo in an objectionable manner in social media groups by one Kavali Venkatesh of Kotakonda village. The case was registered by Maddur police based on a complaint lodged by Maddur Congress party mandal president G Narasimha.
