Sircilla Textile Park Workers Launch Strike over Wages
As part of the protest, workers took out a rally from the Textile Park canteen to the main gate and staged a dharna, raising slogans against the government and management, alleging that their pleas were being ignored.

Karimnagar: Power-loom workers of the Textile Park in Baddenapalli village, Rajanna Sircilla district, went on strike on Wednesday demanding a wage hike after the management failed to respond to repeated requests for increased pay on both government and private orders.
The decision to strike was taken at a meeting of the Powerloom Workers Union, held under the leadership of its president, K. Shankar. The workers unanimously resolved not to return to work until their wages are revised.
As part of the protest, workers took out a rally from the Textile Park canteen to the main gate and staged a dharna, raising slogans against the government and management, alleging that their pleas were being ignored.
CITU Powerloom Workers Union district president K. Ramana said the strike was aimed at securing fair wages for labourers who, despite their hard work, are not being compensated adequately. He noted that a notice had been served to the management five days earlier, but instead of calling for discussions, the management behaved harshly with the workers. Ramana alleged that the Textile Park management was exploiting workers by paying meagre wages of Rs 500 per day.
The union has demanded an increase to Rs 1,000 per day for government orders and a 50-paise hike per 10 picks for private orders, pointing out that the previous agreement has expired. Ramana warned that if the management fails to resolve the issue within two days, the strike will be intensified with the support of various people’s organisations.
