SIR: Hearing Must For Non-Listed Voters For Entry In Voters List
Collectors have been directed to complete the hearings by October 5.
ADILABAD: Voters who failed to link their names with the 2002 electoral roll and provide the required details in their enumeration forms will have to appear for hearings before the respective tahsildars/election officers, during the second phase of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Notices have been issued to voters whose names were not ‘mapped’ and those listed under anomalies.
The notices will specify the date, time and venue of the hearing and are to be served to the concerned voters at least 48 hours in advance. Voters will have to appear before the RDOs or tahsildars with the required documents to retain their names in the final draft electoral roll.
Collectors have been directed to complete the hearings by October 5. Officials will also correct minor mismatches in names, fathers' names and ages at the tahsildar and Booth Level Officer level to reduce the number of voters listed under anomalies.
Komaram Bheem Asifabad district collector K. Haritha said 20,929 voters had not been mapped out of 2,26,680 enumeration forms distributed in the district. She directed officials to issue notices, conduct hearings and complete the process by October 5.
The state election commission will also conduct gram sabhas and ward meetings on August 27, where the names in the draft electoral roll will be read out and Forms 6, 7 and 8 will be received for fresh enrolment and corrections.
In Adilabad town, BLOs have begun serving notices to non-mapped voters and those listed under anomalies in Vidyanagar Colony.
In Adilabad district, there are 17,729 non-mapped voters, including 9,623 in the Adilabad assembly constituency and 8,106 in the Boath Assembly constituency.
Adilabad constituency-level Congress in-charge Kandi Srinivas Reddy said 39,664 voters had been classified as absent, shifted, deceased or duplicate out of 2,50,393 voters in the district. He said party BLAs should coordinate with BLOs to protect genuine voters. Non-mapped voters could retain their names by submitting one of the 12 prescribed documents as proof.
