SIR: ECINET Portal Faces Peak-Hour Glitches

Several people attempting to log in complained of repeated errors while filling forms.

HYDERABAD: The Citizen Service Portal (ECINET) on Wednesday faced technical issues, with the website remaining inaccessible to users during peak hours.

Several people attempting to log in complained of repeated errors while filling forms. Users reported receiving the message “something went wrong” across multiple options, and refreshing the page redirected them back to the home screen. RTI activist Kareem Ansari said, “I have been trying since morning to fill the form online. After entering OTP and details, when I choose the option ‘fill enumeration form’, it redirects back to the home page.”

Advocate Ehteshamul Haq, a volunteer for SIR in Karimnagar, said similar complaints had been received for days. “Since crores of people use the service at the same time, especially mornings, the portal is going down,” he noted.

Officials admitted the portal was hit by server overload as voters from over a dozen states under Phase 3 of SIR accessed it simultaneously. “It is a fact that people are facing issues. In Telangana, there is no need to panic as the ECI has extended the deadline till August 3,” a senior official told Deccan Chronicle.

By July 22, Telangana recorded 2,36,18,340 enumeration forms digitised (69.82%), with Hyderabad district at 45.68 per cent and Medchal–Malkajgiri just over 45 per cent.
