SIR: Congress To Conduct House-To-House Survey In All Polling Booths To Protect Genuine Voters
The Congress party does not depend on the BLOs' data provided to the Election Commission, and would collect “our own data” vis-à-vis the SIR survey: Sachin Sawant

ADILABAD: The Congress party will conduct a house-to-house survey across all the polling booths to determine “on what grounds voters are listed under anomalies or ASDD voters (absent, shifted, deceased and duplicate) as part of the SIR’s second phase process.
Congress party’s BLAs, coordinators and local party leaders in the districts would assess whether putting one or the other voter in the present category is valid or not.
“We would start a house-to-house survey and reach out to all the voters in the booth after the Election Commission issues notices to the voters. The Congress party is studying the Election Commission’s proposal to leave out 73 lakh voters from the draft rolls out of a total of 3.38 crore voters in the state, citing anomalies, the AICC in-charge for the state, Sachin Sawant, told the media in Utnoor on Monday.
He said, “The Congress party will raise objections after the EC publishes the electoral draft, and would seek to protect the votes of the genuine voters under SIR. We have our own mechanisms to go through the draft and help the genuine voters to retain their votes.”
Sawant said the Congress party does not depend on the BLOs' data provided to the Election Commission, and would collect “our own data” vis-à-vis the SIR survey.
He said, “The BJP is targeting the votes of SC, ST, minority, the poor and women by meddling with SIR. A large number of names of voters has been cited as likely not genuine, or as ASDD voters in the draft EC lists. The BJP is trying to use the SIR as a means to tamper with the election process and come to power in Telangana, as in West Bengal and Bihar.”
He questioned why BRS was not active in taking up the issues related to the SIR and claimed that the Congress alone was fighting against the BJP and exposing its hidden agenda vis-a-vis SIR. “The BRS and BJP are colluding as far as SIR in Telangana is concerned.”
