Singareni to Pay Rs.819 cr Bonus to Over 71,000 Workers: Kishan
Kishan Reddy said about 41,000 regular employees will receive Rs.1,95,610 each as bonus for 2024–25, while over 30,000 contract workers will be paid Rs.5,500 each, Rs. 500 more than the Rs.5,000 given last year.
Hyderabad: Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy has announced that Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will distribute Rs.819 crore as bonus to more than 71,000 regular and contract employees from the profits earned in the financial year 2024–25.
In a post on X, Kishan Reddy said the bonus represents 13 per cent of SCCL’s Rs.6,394 crore profit for the year and forms part of a series of workers’ welfare measures by the government of India for the employees of Coal India, Neyveli Lignite Corporation and now Singareni. He said about 41,000 regular employees will receive Rs.1,95,610 each as bonus for 2024–25, while over 30,000 contract workers will be paid Rs.5,500 each, Rs. 500 more than the Rs.5,000 given last year.
It may be noted that the central government has recently enhanced insurance cover and ex-gratia benefits for Coal India and its subsidiary workers, and a performance-linked reward for all coal-sector employees.
