Singareni, TGGENCO Plan 75,500 Tonnes of Coal Supply a Day
A special coordination meeting held through video conference from Singareni Bhavan at Kothagudem in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on Tuesday evening discussed a daily coal supply target of 75,500 tonnes.
Nalgonda: Singareni and Telangana Genco have prepared an action plan to ensure uninterrupted coal supply to TGGenco’s thermal power plants in line with the state’s growing electricity needs amid El Nino conditions.
A special coordination meeting held through video conference from Singareni Bhavan at Kothagudem in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on Tuesday evening discussed a daily coal supply target of 75,500 tonnes.
The meeting was chaired by Singareni chairman and managing director Dr Buddhaprakash Jyoti and Telangana Genco chairman and managing director Dr Harish.
The meeting discussed a plan to supply 56,000 tonnes a day through 14 railway rakes and 19,500 tonnes by road.
Plant-wise requirements of 24,000 tonnes a day for Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS), 4,500 tonnes for Kakatiya Thermal Power Station, 15,000 tonnes for Bhadradri Thermal Power Station and 34,000 tonnes for Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) were reviewed.
For YTPS, an action plan was drawn up to transport 8,000 tonnes a day through two rakes from the Naini coal block in Odisha and 36,000 tonnes through six rakes from Singareni’s local mines.
Singareni officials said steps were being taken to increase supplies from Naini. About 15.02 lakh tonnes of coal had been supplied to TGGenco power plants by road and rail up to September 28 this year.
During the corresponding period last September, supply stood at 11.44 lakh tonnes. This represented an increase of 3.58 lakh tonnes, or about 31 per cent.
TGGenco officials informed the meeting that electricity demand had risen due to dry conditions associated with El Nino and that additional coal was needed to support higher generation.
The meeting called on the area general managers and power plant chief engineers to resolve issues relating to coal supply, transportation and receipt through close coordination.
They were asked to exchange information daily by phone and WhatsApp groups, arrange the required railway rakes and speed up loading and unloading.
Both organisations agreed to work together to maintain a continuous supply of quality coal and prevent disruptions to power generation in the state.
Officials said this was the first such joint coordination review involving the chief engineers of the plants and the area general managers responsible for supplying them.
