Sigachi Death Toll Rises to 42
Eight people continue to remain untraceable, 18 still being treated at hospital

Hyderabad: The death toll in the Sigachi factory blast rose to 42 after officials identified two bodies on Sunday through DNA tests. One person, Jitender from Madhya Pradesh, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital, succumbed to his injuries, officials said on Sunday.
The victims who were identified on Sunday were D. Ramanjaneyulu of Andhra Pradesh and M. Akhil of Telangana.
Of the 33 injured, 14 have been discharged, while 18 continue to be under medical attention in various hospitals in the city. Eight team members are still missing. Of the 143 staff present on-site during the time of the accident, 61 are safe.
The hospital authority has arranged ambulances for carrying the bodies of the victims to their native places free of cost and has extended financial assistance for transportation.
According to officials, at least eight persons, who were reportedly at the factory floor when the mishap occurred on June 30, continue to remain untraced. The hospital staff are collecting samples from the family members for DNA identification.
Union leaders of Left-wing organisations on Sunday staged a protest at the main gate of Sigachi Industries Limited demanding measures to trace the missing persons. They accused the Sigachi Industries management of negligence, which resulted in the mishap.
While initially, the police refused to allow the union leaders to visit the blast site, they relented and allowed inside later. CITU leaders warned that they would take the issue seriously if the management failed to announce compensation for the victim's family members.
