Sigachi Blast: Telangana High Court Issues Notice to State on PIL, Seeks Response in 3 Weeks

The petitioner also urged the court to instruct the state government to ensure strict monitoring of industrial safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Thursday issued notices to the state government, directing it to file a counter within three weeks in connection with the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed over the blast occured at Sigachi Industries pharmaceutical factory at Pashamylaram ’s industrial park in Patancheru. The PIL was filed by K. Babu Rao.

The petitioner’s counsel informed the court that 54 people lost their lives, 28 were injured, and eight individuals remain unaccounted for. Despite the announcement of ex gratia compensation, the families of the deceased and injured have reportedly not received any relief.
The advocate further alleged that no action has been taken against the Sigachi Industries management and requested the court to direct the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident, which was initially registered at the Bhanoor Police Station.
The petitioner also urged the court to instruct the state government to ensure strict monitoring of industrial safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
