Siddipet: A woman on Sunday allegedly killed her husband over a property dispute at Sevalal Maharaj Thanda in Akkannapet mandal, in the district, and surrendered before the police. The issue pertained to the property belonging to her first husband, which the victim wanted to be shared with his children.
As per reports, the deceased, Banoth Bhagavan (43), a native of Malkapet Thanda in Narmetta mandal, Jangaon district, married Maloth Rajeshwari about 15 years ago. It was the second marriage for both. Rajeshwari has a daughter from her first marriage, and the couple has another daughter and a son.
According to police, the couple frequently quarrelled over a property issue. Bhagavan reportedly insisted that a house in Hanumakonda, which belongs to Rajeshwari’s elder daughter from her first marriage, be divided equally among all three children, which she had refused, leading to friction at home.
Rajeshwari had recently gone to her parental home and on Sunday, Bhagavan who was in an inebriated condition, went there and reportedly picked a fight with her over the property while drunk. As the argument escalated, Rajeshwari allegedly threw chilli powder in his eyes, tied him to a tree, and beat him to death. Rajeshwari then surrendered to the police.
A case has been registered; the body was sent for postmortem, and an investigation is underway. Police are also reportedly looking into the role of the victim’s stepdaughter, Rajeshwari’s daughter from her first marriage, in the incident.
