Siddipet Tiger: Expert Team From Tadoba To Arrive Today
Tadoba team to assess the situation as forest staff monitor tiger’s movements

Hyderabad: With the tiger seen in Siddipet district showing no signs of moving out, and exploring an area in a five-km radius around Thoguta, where it was first spotted, officials began assessing various options on how to handle the big cat. These included the remote possibility of tranquilising it and moving it to a forest area in the state, and a team of experts from the Tadoba-Andhari tiger reserve in Maharashtra will be joining in.
A senior forest department official said on Sunday that a field biologist and a veterinarian with expertise in tranquilising tigers, will reach Siddipet on Monday and will inspect the area the tiger has been moving in. “The team will be here for an inspection and assessment of the conditions on the ground. Tranquilisation of the tiger, if at all required, will be a last option,” the official said.
While the movements of the tiger are being tracked by several teams from the forest department, their hopes that it would start moving back the way it came from and eventually reach the forests in Mancherial have been dashed so far.
“It is staying put, leaving the reserve forest patch near Mallannasagar, going along an irrigation canal, moving around a bit and returning to the forested area. So far, it has not caused any trouble and has also not killed any cattle,” a forest official from Siddipet district said.
