The heaviest rainfall was recorded in central and northern parts of the city. Jawahar Nagar logged 20.5 mm, the highest in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area between 8.30 am and 7 pm, followed by 19 mm at the GHMC headquarters in Himayatnagar and 18.8 mm at the TSRTC employee building in Vidyanagar. Batukamma Kunta in Amberpet received 18.5 mm, the GHMC Sports Complex in Amberpet 16.5 mm, Adikmet 16.3 mm, Ramanthapur 15.5 mm and the Osmania University Registrar’s Office 15 mm.
Showers also spread across Musheerabad, Khairatabad, Shaikpet, Nampally, Ameerpet and Mehdipatnam. The spells were intense in pockets but not prolonged, leaving uneven rainfall across the city.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a maximum of 31.8°C, which dropped to 25°C by 7.30 pm. Humidity stood at 83 per cent.
Elsewhere in the state, Velugu Palle in Nalgonda district recorded 21.8 mm, the highest in Telangana, according to the Telangana Development Planning Society.
Weather analyst T. Balaji said Wednesday’s showers were a short spell rather than a sustained revival of monsoon activity, with deficit conditions likely to persist. The IMD forecast isolated rain or thundershowers across Telangana in the coming days, while Hyderabad is expected to see partly cloudy skies with limited rain activity.
