Hyderabad: In 121 decoy operations and outreach initiatives since July 21, the Cyberabad women and child safety wing apprehended 36 individuals for indecent acts and conducted 64 awareness drives through SHE Teams. A statement said the anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) conducted sensitisation sessions on issues such as child marriage, cyberbullying and human trafficking. As part of Operation Muskan-XI, 404 children were rescued — 390 were reunited with their families and 14 were sent to shelter homes. In addition, 30 families involved in marital disputes were provided counselling.
Curbs imposed for surveyor exam
Hyderabad: To ensure the smooth conduct of the final theory examination for licence surveyors on Sunday, Cyberabad police commissioner Avinash Mohanty has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS. The order bans the assembly of five or more persons within a 200-metre radius of the Government Model School at Palamakula, Shamshabad, from 6 am to 6 pm. Internet and photocopy centres within 100 metres of the venue will also remain closed during this period.
Student dies of heart attack in hostel
Hyderabad: A 23-year-old student died after allegedly suffering a heart attack at a hostel in KPHB Phase 5 on Friday. According to investigation officer K. Babu Rao, the deceased, Bommena Madhumohan from Kundaram village in Mancherial district, had been staying at a boys’ hostel in Dilsukhnagar and had visited friends in KPHB. He complained of gas trouble after lunch and took a tablet before sleeping alongside friends.
When friends tried to wake him in the evening, he was unresponsive. He was rushed to a private hospital around 8 pm, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival. His father, Bapu Bommena, lodged a complaint after being informed by a friend. Doctors confirmed he had suffered a heart attack. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Man dies during function
Hyderabad: A 49-year-old senior assistant in the tourism department died after suffering seizures at a function in KPHB on Friday night. The deceased, Vattikoti Venkateshwarlu, a native of Nagarjunasagar, collapsed around 9.30 pm at a restaurant while attending a colleague’s child’s celebration. He was shifted to a private hospital, where he died during treatment.
His wife, Rama Devi, told police he sustained injuries on his eyebrow and the back of his head during the fall. The body was sent to Gandhi Hospital for a postmortem. A case has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
2 Held for Fake 2BHK Scam
Hyderabad: Two persons were arrested for allegedly duping several people by posing as political party functionaries and promising double-bedroom houses in Jeedimetla.
The Jeedimetla police said one G. Sridhar posed as a BRS worker claiming proximity to the Quthbullapur MLA. He showed photos with political leaders to build trust and collected money from victims under the pretext of registration and processing fees.
With the help of Pradeep Prasad, a private employee, Sridhar reportedly created fake allotment letters. Based on a complaint from a victim, K. Malleshwari, they were arrested from Godavari Homes in Suchitra. Police seized forged documents, a car, a laptop, a printer, a scanner, a webcam and two mobile phones. The accused were produced before the court. Further investigation is underway.
