SHE Teams Nab 176 Eve-Teasers; Arrest One Man for Blackmail
Officials said 117 awareness programmes were conducted during the period, reaching over 21,000 people, and advised women facing harassment to contact SHE Teams through dedicated helpline numbers.

Hyderabad: Malkajgiri SHE Teams arrested a man for allegedly blackmailing a married woman by threatening to circulate her photographs. The arrest comes amid a special women’s safety drive in which 176 eve‑teasers were apprehended over 45 days.
Police said the accused, a former schoolmate of the victim, obtained her phone number from a Class X WhatsApp group. After gaining her trust, he allegedly took photographs with her and borrowed gold ornaments and cash. When the woman demanded their return, he reportedly threatened to share her photographs with family and neighbours. Acting swiftly on her complaint, SHE Teams registered a case and arrested him.
Deputy commissioner of police (Women Safety, Malkajgiri zone) T. Usha Rani said police would not spare anyone harassing girls and women. She urged women to lodge complaints without fear, assuring confidentiality and strict action against offenders.
The DCP noted that SHE Teams were conducting decoy operations in plain clothes at bus stands, railway stations, metro stations, schools, colleges, vegetable markets and other public places to catch offenders with proper evidence. Those apprehended are being produced before courts and, wherever appropriate, provided counselling in the presence of their families.
Between November 16 and December 31, 2025, Malkajgiri SHE Teams received 229 complaints — 44 related to harassment through phone calls, 78 via social media and 107 involving direct or physical harassment. During this period, 176 offenders, including 134 adults and 42 minors, were apprehended. Police registered 11 criminal cases, booked 71 petty cases and counselled 104 persons at the CP camp office, LB Nagar, with professional counsellors assisting.
In another case, a homeopathy college student complained that her junior persistently harassed her despite warnings. Police also booked a cheating case against a man who allegedly established a relationship with a woman on the pretext of marriage and later absconded.
