SHE Teams Apprehend 81 Offenders In Two Weeks
Between January 1 and 15, SHE teams under the commissionerate limits apprehended 81 offenders and received 97 complaints, reaffirming zero tolerance towards harassment of women.

HYDERABAD: A young woman’s complaint of harassment and blackmail by a former co-worker led to the arrest of the accused by Malkajgiri SHE teams, police said on Monday.
Between January 1 and 15, SHE teams under the commissionerate limits apprehended 81 offenders and received 97 complaints, reaffirming zero tolerance towards harassment of women. Officers conducted decoy checks, booked criminal and petty cases, and held counselling sessions to ensure women’s safety.
According to Women Safety Wing DCP Usha Rani, the complainant had earlier been in a relationship with the accused while working in the same organisation. The relationship ended in June 2024 after disputes, when she learnt he was also involved with another woman. Both later joined different companies. About three months ago, the accused joined her present workplace and began pressuring her to marry him. When she refused, he threatened to upload her personal photographs on social media. Distressed by continued intimidation, she approached SHE Teams, who swiftly registered a criminal case, arrested him, and remanded him in judicial custody.
“This case is among several incidents handled by SHE teams in recent weeks,” DCP Rani said, urging victims to report harassment without fear. She added that decoy operations in plain clothes are being conducted at bus stands, railway stations, metro stations, schools, colleges, vegetable markets, and other public places to identify offenders.
Of the 97 complaints received in the fortnight, 44 involved direct or physical harassment, 36 were related to abuse through social media, and 17 pertained to harassment via phone calls. Police apprehended 64 adults and 17 minors, registering nine criminal cases and 29 petty cases. Counselling was provided to 52 persons, often in the presence of family members, with support from professional counsellors.
Other significant cases included the molestation of a woman returning home from work by three unidentified men on a two-wheeler, and the stalking of a B.Tech student at a bus stop. An e-petty case was also booked against a man for continuously following a young woman, causing fear and anxiety.
Apart from enforcement, SHE teams conducted 36 awareness programmes during the period, reaching over 4,500 people and educating them on women-related laws, rights, and safety precautions.
