SFI Protests at Inter Board, Demands Probe into Fake Certificates of Regularised Lecturers

They also alleged some institutions were falsely claiming to have affiliations and enrolling students

Hyderabad:The Students' Federation of India (SFI) held a protest at Telangana Board of Intermediate Education, demanding a comprehensive inquiry into the certificates submitted during the regularisation process of contract lecturers in government junior colleges. They insisted that the verification process be carried out transparently. SFI state president S. Rajinikanth said in the year 2023, 3,800 contract lecturers working in government junior colleges were regularised. He noted that 35 individuals among them had been dismissed after it was found that they had submitted fraudulent certificates.

He alleged that another 700 to 800 individuals may have secured regularisation by submitting certificates claiming they completed their postgraduate (PG) studies in states such as Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Reports suggest that among the approximately 400 certificates from other states submitted to the Board, some of the letters verifying the completion of studies are, in fact, forged, he added.

They also alleged some institutions were falsely claiming to have affiliations and enrolling students. It has been criticized that authorities were failing to take appropriate action against colleges that collect lakhs of rupees in fees from students while conducting classes in congested, inadequate facilities.
