Four dead, six serious in Chevella road mishap

Hyderabad: At least four persons were killed, while six others sustained severe injuries when a lorry lost control and ran over a group of vegetable sellers on the roadside in Chevella on Monday evening. The incident took place in Aloor village, whose locals sell vegetables along the busy road.

It is feared that the toll would increase are several of the injured are in a serious condition.
Like any usual day, they had set up their roadside stalls on Monday.However, horror came in the form of a lorry heading towards Vikarabad. It veered off the road and ran over several vendors. Three of those in front were hit before they noticed the vehicle, which also struck Jameel, a 30-year-old passerby. All were killed on the spot.
Chevella ACP B. Kishan said, “The victims, all from Aloor village, included Nakkalapalli Ramulu (48), D. Krishna (22), and Shyamala Sujatha (38). Jameel was a bystander. The lorry ran over the sellers and rammed into a tree with the driver trapped inside. The locals and traffic police rescued the driver and rushing him to the hospital.”
The bodies of the deceased were moved to the Chevella government hospital for postmortem, while the injured were moved to Dr P. Mahender Reddy General Hospital. Their condition is stated to be critical.
Chevella police registered a case and are looking into what caused the lorry driver to lose control.
