Warangal: Stressing the importance of women’s advancement in all fields, panchayat raj minister Seethakka said she reached her current position only after overcoming many challenges in a male-dominated society. She made these remarks during her birthday celebration at the party office in Mulugu district on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Seethakka noted that true leaders earn recognition through their work and by winning people’s hearts. She encouraged party workers who have not yet received opportunities not to be discouraged, reminding them that hard work is always noticed and rewarded in time.
“Our government’s primary goal is to implement welfare schemes for the poor,” she said. “All party workers must unite to strengthen the party’s reputation and presence in every village, and strive to win as many seats as possible in the upcoming local-body elections.”
Later, accompanied by district collector T.S. Divakar, the minister inaugurated a new computer lab, funded by Infosys CSR, with a donation of 10 computers at Zilla Parishad Girls High School in Mulugu.
Speaking of her own journey, Seethakka recalled studying at that very school, where she lived in an ST hostel and attended classes regularly due to her passion for learning. She urged students to set high goals and work diligently toward them, just as she did, eventually completing her PhD.
The minister then formally launched the second phase of “Learn to Read,” a 90-day educational programme organised by the district education department in association with the Disha Foundation and ELF English. Implemented in 50 primary schools across the district, the initiative aims to strengthen English-medium instruction in government schools, helping students develop language skills on par with private schools. Seethakka urged teachers to make full use of the Disha Foundation’s resources and teaching materials to ensure the programme’s success at the grassroots level.
