Seethakka Assures Support To Flood-Hit Families, Reviews Godavari Situation in Mulugu

WARANGAL: Panchayat raj and rural development minister Danasari Anasuya, popularly known as Seethakka, on Saturday reviewed the flood situation in Mulugu district, assured full support to families affected by the swelling Godavari and directed officials to remain on high alert as heavy inflows continued from the upper catchment.
Accompanied by Mulugu district collector Borkhade Hemanth Sahadeorao, superintendent of police Sudheer Ramnath Kekan and ITDA project officer Lenin Vatsal Toppo, the minister inspected the Godavari at Mangapet, visited the rehabilitation centre at the Zilla Parishad High School and reviewed the progress of embankment works along the river.
Interacting with families accommodated at the relief camp, Seethakka assured them that the government would provide all necessary assistance until normalcy was restored. Officials informed her that 112 persons from 28 families in flood-prone villages had already been shifted to rehabilitation centres as a precautionary measure.
The minister said continuous rainfall in the upper catchment had led to a steady rise in the Godavari's water level, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying and backwater villages.
Later, she inspected the flood situation at the Mullakatta–Poosur bridge in Wazeedu mandal and offered special prayers for the Godavari floodwaters to recede. She also visited the damaged diversion road near the Isukavagu bridge between Cheekupalli and Pedda Gollagudem villages, which was washed away in the recent rains, and directed officials to restore connectivity at the earliest.
Seethakka instructed officials to remain available round the clock and ensure timely rescue and relief operations. She directed the district administration to shift families immediately if villages or colonies were threatened by backwaters and to provide adequate food, safe drinking water, medical care, sanitation and other essential facilities at rehabilitation centres.
The minister also enquired about the welfare of displaced families and instructed officials to address their needs without delay.
Among those present were Eturnagaram ASP Manan Bhatt, District Library chairman Banoth Ravichander, Market Committee chairperson Rega Kalyani, RDO Krishnaveni, DPO Venkaiah, the tahsildar, MPDO, local public representatives and officials of various departments.
